Treo 600 Not Welcome in Federal Court

By Neil J. Squillante | Wednesday, August 4, 2004

Regarding TechnoLawyer member Ramon Pagan's observation about Federal Courts not permitting phones being a drawback to using a device like the Treo 600, TechnoLawyer member Buzz Bruggeman responds: "I have had 2 Treos, both the 600 and the 300.  I travel all over the country, and the only places the 600 doesn't work is in areas where no one else's phones work either.  I have never had a problem.  As for Federal Courts, I have stopped even trying to bring my phone into a Federal Courthouse -- not worth the hassle. The Federal Courts are generally unhappy that the 19th Century is over."

Amazon Emulates TechnoLawyer

By Neil J. Squillante | Wednesday, August 4, 2004

After years of permitting anonymous reviews, Internet retail giant Amazon has changed its policy. It now requires reviewers to keep a credit card on file, and encourages the use of their real name. Of course, TechnoLawyer has required its members to provide their full name and e-mail address when contributing Posts since the very beginning. I guess Amazon realized what we've known all along -- the more anonymity you remove, the more reliable member contributions become.

Do-it-Yourself Knowledge Management

By Neil J. Squillante | Wednesday, July 7, 2004

TechnoLawyer Les Proctor has the following to say about Dennis Kennedy's TechnoFeature "Do-It-Yourself Knowledge Management: Ten Practical Steps": "This is a well-done and useful article. I discovered and used many of the steps over the years by trial and error. It's a shame that it isn't required reading for new lawyers as early as law school." This article is, of course, available in the TechnoLawyer Archive.
